Since qualifying in orthopaedics in 1973 and as a RGN in 1976, I have worked in both hospitals and General Practice.
I specialise in asthma and COPD but ran clinics in coronary heart disease and diabetes, all part of the Quality Framework which links into key target areas and NICE guidance. During this time it became evident that symptoms exhibited by many patients had an underlying link to depression. Realising the importance of this, I gained a post-graduate diploma in psychodynamic counselling at Leicester University in 2007 and completed an extended course in CBT in 2009 and in group therapy in 2012.
In 2010, I was appointed as counsellor to Leicester Diocese and pastoral advisor to the Bishop of Leicester.
I apply ethical standards to all aspects of my work and attend fortnightly supervision.
