Having qualified in Coventry in 1987, Helen has had a wide range of experience in many areas of physiotherapy, including spending time working in Canada. Helen has worked in a wide range of clinical areas such as pain management, respiratory medicine and neurology, all of which means Helen has seen and learnt many things that she now uses in her specialist work.
From 1991 Helen Mumby-Croft specialised in musculo-skeletal work and became a specialist physiotherapist in spinal work in 1999 when she started working with a spinal orthopaedic surgeon and a rheumatology service in Peterborough. Together they have developed this service over the intervening years and Helen has developed her skills in understanding and interpreting imaging such as MRI scans and has also become practised in undertaking spinal injections including epidurals- being one of the first in the country to do so.
Helen now runs a very busy NHS service in Peterborough, and realises that there are still many people who other than visiting their GP, have limited opportunity to see a specialist about their back pain. In developing a private service at Leicester Spire Hospital for patients who wish to have a thorough and exhaustive examination privately, with access to imaging such as MRI scanning, Helen hopes to be able to offer reassurance, understanding and an explanation as to the cause of an individual's debilitating back pain.
Helen Mumby-Croft's extensive experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, also means she can help patients in planning how best to move forward in order to effectively manage their spinal pain.
