Dr Martin's undergraduate Training finished at Queen’s University Belfast in 1997 and he completed his postgraduate medical training in Belfast’s teaching hospitals. Dr Martin moved to Leicester in 2003, completing his higher specialist training in 2008, including one year of a clinical fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplantation which is his main area of clinical practice. As a transplant doctor he has an interest and expertise in all areas of haemato-oncology, managing patients with a variety of malignant haematological conditions, including lymphomas, leukaemias, myelodysplasia, multiple myeloma and myeloproliferative disorders.
In 2009 Dr Martin was appointed Consultant Haematologist with a special interest in Acute Leukaemias and Bone Marrow Transplantation. He is the clinical director of the Stem Cell Collection Facility and clinical apheresis service. Dr Martin is the deputy lead of chemotherapy services for the trust.
