Spire Leicester Hospital offer a comprehensive multi-disciplinary diagnostic service for children who have speech and language delay with communication difficulties such as autism.
We recognise that a child’s behaviour may meet any number of diagnostic indicators
At our Multi Professional Assessment Centre in conjunction with Integrated Treatment Services, we provide a joined up assessment and evaluation of a child’s needs, using a holistic approach and working with highly skilled multi professional colleagues to agree a single set of goals.
We have set up this service as we recognise that many families travel far and wide to access a diagnostic centre to assess their child’s needs, desperately trying to unravel and underpin the reasons for their child’s difficulties, then struggle to get professional bodies such as Local Authorities to accept the diagnosis.
The service is led by Consultant Paediatrician Dr Sophia Mooncey.
What makes our assessment and diagnostic process different?
The key factor is that we are open to assessing a child’s all round strengths and needs and recognise that a child’s behaviour may meet any number of diagnostic indicators. We will not assess for one diagnosis alone, we will use assessment to make a differential diagnosis that will help to draw the most accurate conclusions about your child.
What if my child only needs a full assessment by only one professional?
Not all clients will require the involvement of several professionals to support their assessment. Our head of service Dr Mooncey can help you identify whether a multi professional or single professional assessment route is most appropriate for your child.
