Mr Christian Macutkiewicz is a consultant in pancreatico-biliary and laparoscopic surgeon at St James's University Hospital and Spire Leeds Hospital.
He graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Biochemistry and then went on to graduate with Honours in Medicine from the University of Manchester in 2000. He completed a period of research and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine for his thesis in 2008. He completed his Higher Surgical Training in the North Western Deanery and has worked in London, Cambridge, Nottingham and Manchester after finally settling in Leeds for his consultant post. He is part of a three-man regional pancreatic unit specialising in the investigation and management of pancreatic tumours, pancreatitis and gallbladder diseases.
He has a special interest in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery of gallbladder and bile duct, the investigation and management of abdominal pains, open and laparoscopic pancreatic surgery and open and laparoscopic hernia surgery.
He has a great interest in day-case gallbladder surgery and improving patient satisfaction whilst in hospital.
His responsibilities include teaching the medical students of the University of Leeds, training tomorrow’s doctors is very rewarding!
