I am a consultant cardiologist in general cardiology with a special interest in cardiac imaging and heart valve disease.

I am clinical lead for one of the largest echocardiography departments and largest specialist valve clinics in the UK. I am one of the key members of the specialist valve team at the Leeds General Infirmary providing advanced imaging for patients with heart valve disease and novel heart valve procedures such trans-catheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).

I participate in clinical trials for new technologies to treat heart valve disease.

I completed my undergraduate training in Germany and came to the UK in 1997. I completed my cardiology training in West Yorkshire. I was awarded an MD at the University of Leeds. Subsequently I spent one year in Sydney, Australia where I received specialist training in all aspects of cardiac imaging including cardiac CT and echo. I was appointed a consultant cardiologists in Leeds in 2010.

My clinical interest lies in the investigation and prompt diagnosis of patients with chest pain, heart murmurs, bicuspid aortic valve disease, breathlessness, high blood pressure and management of heart valve disease (diagnosis, treatment and timing of surgery).

I believe in open discussion and informed choice. I take my time to listen to patients concerns and explain all aspects of their management. I am co-investigator in trials looking at new technologies to treat heart valve disease. I have published in peer-reviewed papers and continue to present on research projects in national and international conferences on valve and echo related topics.
