Kerr Mackie School has had a healthy kickstart for 2010 from Spire Leeds Hospital.

The hospital invited children from the school to submit drawings on the theme of staying fit and healthy throughout the year to illustrate their official calendar.
Given recent Government initiatives to promote health and wellbeing, part of the incentive behind the art initiative was to encourage children think about what it means to be fit and healthy and how they would represent this in artwork.
Drawings were chosen to represent a range of activities and have been used to produce striking A4 and A5 format calendars for Spire Leeds Hospital for distribution to GPs and other health professionals throughout the Leeds area.
In addition, Spire produced and donated 200 calendars to the school to sell for school funds.
Anna Tchaikovsky, Hospital Director at Spire Leeds Hospital said: “It has been an enjoyable and very worthwhile project for us. It has helped us to build links with the local community, as well as impart a message to younger children about what it means to be fit and healthy.”
