As part of our dedication to excellence in training, our hospitals have strong links with leading universities that offer Nursing, Physiotherapy, Radiology and Operating Department Practitioner qualifications. We offer support and learning opportunities to students including fully supervised 8 week placements.
Our Heads of Department work closely with Placement Managers to understand exactly what students require in terms of clinical skills development. We aim to give students an understanding not just of the department in which their placement takes place, but also an understanding of the full patient journey and the functions of other departments. Students will be assigned a dedicated mentor who will support them in their learning processes, and they will work together to assess how skills develop over the course of the placement.
Our positive approach to learning means we can promote the development of exceptional levels of patient care throughout the whole medical community. In some cases placements lead to longer term relationships with placement students, some of whom return to work for us in support roles on a part time basis during their studies, whilst some others return to work for us when they qualify or later in their career. We feel this is evidence of students positive perception of our clinical practices and our people.
Placements are arranged directly between each university's Placement Manager and the relevant clinical Head of Department. If you are a student and you would like to consider doing one of your placements at a Spire Hospital please contact your university's Placement Manager.
