At Spire Healthcare we place particular importance on the safe and effective use of medicines. So, whether you’re a pharmacist, pharmacy technician or pharmacy assistant you can be sure that your expertise will be put to full use. Our mission is focused on developing excellent clinical environments and delivering the highest quality patient care, so you will be expected to be a champion for best practice medicines management.
You will have daily contact with consultants and nursing staff and will provide advice on the appropriate use of medicines to all our health and care professionals, playing a vital and respected role within our hospitals. With exposure to a broad range of both chronic and acute conditions, you will maintain a high level of knowledge on a wide variety of drugs, care pathways, and risks. You will also advise patients on how to manage their medicines to ensure optimal treatment, so it is essential that you take the time to understand our patients' needs and concerns and have the ability to communicate with clarity and compassion.
Many of our hospitals provide oncology services, where our pharmacy staff are key to providing chemotherapy services for our patients. In fact five of our hospitals have their own chemotherapy preparation isolator. In addition, many hospitals offer bariatric and cardiac services, and you may be given the opportunity to complete further specialist training in these areas.
A key part of being a Pharmacist at Spire is the planning, controlling and monitoring of the purchase and storage of medicines. This requires excellent organisational skills to ensure a smooth and reliable service, as well as the ability to take into account current legal, professional and clinical requirements.
