Our nurses focus on clinical excellence in everything they do. As a nurse at Spire, you role will include managing a group of patients providing clinical skills which include communicating with them, assessing their immediate and future care needs, and providing specialist clinical activities to aid their recovery and enhance their well-being right through to hospital discharge. This might include care of their surgical site, medicine management, fluid balance and providing personal care, such as bathing. The wide range of clinical procedures provided by Spire hospitals means that you will be exposed to a diverse range of nursing specialisms: orthopaedics, paediatrics, oncology, bariatics, cardiac to name but a few. Whether working on a ward or in Outpatients, your role will be to ensure patients have a personal, caring, positive experience. As well as excellent practical nursing skills, you will need to display patience, compassion and problem solving skills in providing expert care
There really is nowhere better to develop your nursing career than Spire Healthcare. We invest heavily in your training, and provide support on a continual basis to help you diversify your skills under expert clinical supervision and mentoring. In return for this, you will be expected to be hungry to learn and keen to share knowledge with your colleagues. Because of the wide range of clinical procedures and specialisms provided in our hospitals, no one day is likely to be the same. This means that you never stop learning, and it makes Spire an exciting, dynamic and creative place to work. Our hospitals are delivering increasingly complex and acute care, and this requires highly skilled and consistent teams.
As a nurse at Spire, you will see that putting patients first and maintaining the highest clinical governance standards are our top priority. Our nurses understand that what they do at work makes a real positive difference, so they take pride in the highest clinical standards. Our care has been recognised in multiple awards. Spire Hartswood, Leeds and Harpenden hospitals were among the first private hospitals to receive the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) for oncology and breast care services. Further MQEMs have followed for Southampton, Little Aston, Murrayfield (Edinburgh), Parkway and Roding. In 2012 Spire Cardiff Hospital won the Independent Healthcare award for Medical Excellence for specialised surgical techniques. These awards, combined with our exceptionally strong infection control records and positive patient outcomes are testament to our nursing teams. Our nurses are proud of the high level of responsive, compassionate and dignified care they can deliver in our hospitals.
