"Before I cam here I was a Facilities Manager for Sodexho at AXA  Insurance looking after catering, housekeeping, ground maintenance. Prior to that I was Operations Manager at University of Central Lancashire Students Union responsible for catering, bars, events, security and worked Nationally for them on the purchasing committee. I have an honours degree in Business Studies.

I have worked at the Fydle Coast Hospital for 12 years. In my role as Support Services Manager I am responsible for catering, housekeeping, porters, stores, maintenance, security, refurbishment and I have just completed project managing the installation of a 3rd Operating Theatre. I am part of the Senior Management Team, and I would relish more responsibility to show my ability and willingness to progress to becoming a Hospital Director in the future.

The most rewarding part of my job is being part of a forward thinking organisation that actually acknowledges the people that work for it and achieving budgeted targets year on year.

I have learnt lots of new skills whilst workikng here, including project managing developments and refurbishments, which is a skill in its self. As part of the recent operating theatre installation I have had to learn the inner workings of autoclaves in Theatres.

The challenges I face in my role include bringing in budgets in on target and getting staff to work as a team to achieve one goal.

My team have a positive, can do approach knowing that the support is there if they need it.

In my team I look for willingness to succeed and the ability to work as part of a team. They need to be flexible in the work place and have a want to learn approach also.

I help my team members develop through training, support and guidance. I believe that everyone has a skill and if you spend time supporting people you can bring out the best in anyone.

I am always surprised when I have meet other employees within the group who have been working for Spire for 20 , 25 and 30 years. It tells me that the company must be doing something right to keep its employees for so long."
