Having finished his Basic Surgical Training in Bristol and then his Higher Surgical Training in Cambridge, Mr Burnett obtained his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Ophthalmology and gained entry in the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council. He has subsequently completed a sub-specialist Fellowship in Glaucoma and received the International Glaucoma Association Research Award in 2005/06. His MD thesis, entitled 'Neuroprotection in Glaucoma', was registered in 2006/07. During his surgical electives from 1994 to 1997 mr Burnett was pleased to gain experience at the University of North Carolina (USA), the Republic of China (Taipei), and East Africa (Kenya). He has been appointed by the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust as a Consultant in Ophthalmology with a special interest in Glaucoma. He is in charge of providing a tertiary referral Glaucoma Service for the Region of East Yorkshire. Mr Burnett enjoys teaching & lecturing to medical students, opticians, other doctors & Glaucoma experts. He likes to stay at the forefront of medicine & surgery by keeping an active interest in research & developments and attending, as well as presenting at, International Conferences.
