A member of Spire Hartswood Hospital’s business team has raised £470 taking part in the ‘London at Night’ Ribbonwalk at the weekend.
Julie Blanche joined more than 1,000 other fundraisers undertaking a 10-mile night-time walk from the Imperial War Museum in aid of Breast Cancer Care.
“It was a great atmosphere filled with men and women who have been affected by cancer. It was really inspiring to walk alongside cancer survivors, as well as those walking in memory of their loved ones, and to hear everybody’s stories. Working in a hospital you get to see first-hand the effect that cancer has on people so I’m so grateful to my friends, family and colleagues for their donations.”
Julie laughed: “I even got to meet Lisa Snowdon. I didn’t know who she was, but stuck by her as she had chocolate! My friends told me afterwards that she’s been out with George Clooney! We had such fun, and though it was very tiring, the wobbly legs afterwards were all worth it as I raised more than I could have hoped for!”
