Mr Mat Griffiths is a consultant plastic surgeon offering private plastic and cosmetic surgery to patients at Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood, Essex.
Mat trained at Barts and The London hospitals, gaining the MBBS qualifications as well as an intercalated Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree (BMedSci). He then spent time training as a junior surgeon in London and Essex before completing a two year post-graduate MD. During this time Mat developed an interest in plastic surgery and was granted entry to the PanThames training programme, spending three years at St Andrew’s Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery.
In 2007, Mat Griffiths passed the FRCS(Plast) exam and was awarded the Ian MacGregor Gold Medal. In his last year of training, he specialised in microvascular reconstruction of the breast and complex limb injuries at Charing Cross Hospital, before spending time in the STACs Aesthetic Fellowship, learning the fine art of cosmetic surgery, as well as visiting renowned surgeons in New York and Munich.
Since then, he has been fortunate to return to Essex as a consultant plastic surgeon at St Andrew’s Centre, Broomfield Hospital, where he specialises in all aspects of reconstructive breast surgery for breast cancer patients. Surgical options include free DIEP reconstruction (also known as the DIEP flap).
Mat Griffiths is also a clinical tutor and leads the new STAARS research group.
Mat has a growing private practice in Essex focussing on cosmetic surgery, in particular cosmetic breast and body re-shaping surgery.
