Mr Jay Menon is a consultant vascular and general surgeon at Spire Hartswood private hospital in Brentwood, Essex, offering private vascular and general surgery in our clean and comfortable private hospital.

After gaining his primary medical qualification and undertaking post-graduate training in India, Jay Menon has been working in the NHS since 1992. He trained in general surgery in the North East Thames surgeons' training scheme under Professor George Hamilton at the Royal Free Hospital and Professors Irwin Taylor and Michael Baum at University College Hospital, London.

Jay Menon became a consultant vascular and general surgeon at Basildon & Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2004.

In his private practice at Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood, Mr Menon performs laparoscopic (keyhole) gallbladder and hernia surgery, and offers private varicose vein surgery.

Jay Menon also performs renal access surgery with a special interest in laparoscopic surgery. He was the first surgeon to perform endovascular aneurysm repair at Basildon Hospital, Essex and the first to perform carotid endarterectomy under local anaesthesia at Basildon.

I am married to a consultant physician and cardiologist, and we have two children. I enjoy sport and in my spare time I enjoy playing cricket and football.
