I am a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Spire Hartswood hospital in Brentwood, Essex, offering specialist private hip, knee and general orthopaedic surgery. I have been practising orthopaedic surgery since 1979 and during my formative years I gained broad training in general and vascular surgery, paediatric, maxillofacial, plastic, upper and lower limb trauma.
I wanted to have a comprehensive understanding of most surgical specialties before pursuing my career in orthopaedics. For total hip replacement surgery I use as small an incision as possible, so that recovery is quicker. However, I also have a special passion for hand and foot surgery in particular bunion surgery. Most of my bunion surgery does not require an overnight stay and I do not use a plaster or metal fixation, which allows faster and more comfortable mobilisation for the patient post operatively.
I offer two clinics a week at Spire Hartswood which provides you, the patient, with a wider choice of appointments. A date for surgery, if necessary, is also arranged at the time of consultation. I regularly give presentations to GPs and patient participation groups on various topics of orthopaedic surgery.
