Dr Muhammad Ather qualified in 1983. Dr Ather is a consultant in pain management at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
In his private practice at Spire Hartswood Hospital and Spire Roding Hospital, he has the benefit of modern MRI and CT scanning facilities and specialist physiotherapy services, including hydrotherapy.
For carefully selected patients in whom conservative treatments have failed, Dr Ather offers some of the latest interventional procedures to manage spinal pain. These day case treatments are performed under X-ray control and include facet joint injections, sacro-iliac joint cool radiofrequency denervation, nerve root blocks, radiofrequency lesioning of intervertebral disc, epidural injections and disc biacuplasty.
Dr Ather organises and runs courses in pain management, including an annual hands-on cadaver workshop in London, with a faculty of pain management colleagues from the UK, Europe and USA.
