Dr Ala Al Hussaini has been a consultant in rheumatology since 1987 after finishing his senior registrar training in Nottingham Queen's Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital.
He obtained his MRCP in London in 1978 and started his first consultant job at Ealing and Hammersmith Hospital NHS Trust. He has been an NHS and occasional private consultant since. He has gained broad experience in all aspects of rheumatology, training and teaching at established rheumatology centres across the UK.
He obtained a European Diploma in Physical Medicine in 1994.
Currently, Dr Al Hussaini runs the rheumatology department at Queen's Hospital, Romford, since Professor Chakravarty left in October 2013.
Dr Al Hussaini has an interest in inflammatory joint and spinal disease including osteoporosis and fibromyalgia. He also offers single or multiple joint and spinal steroid injections as part of a comprehensive and holistic approach approach to arthritis pains.
Dr Al Hussaini performs a large number of joint and epidural injections; approximately 450 joint injections last year with no complications. His patients often comment that they did not even feel the needle going in during joint injection aspiration.
