Background Information
Professional profile:

Marian has over 25 years experience in the field of paediatric speech and language therapy. Her independent practice in Hertfordshire includes a caseload of children with a wide range of speech and language difficulties including phonological  and motor speech disorders, language disorders, and children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.  Her role includes supporting both the children and their families with early intervention and liaison with other professionals involved. Therapy focuses on functional goals to meet each individual child's needs using a variety of therapeutic strategies.

Marian graduated from Sheffield University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Medical Science in Speech Science and has practised in the field of paediatrics since August 1986. Following 2 years as a generalist in paediatrics at Cambridge Health Authority, she worked as a specialist in physical disability in the same authority before joining the staff of the London Bobath Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy in 1990. Marian worked as a Senior Bobath Tutor and Head of Speech and Language Therapy until 2001 when she chose to focus on her own 3 children at home. Since then she has accumulated a wide ranging independent practice, whilst continuing links with the Bobath Centre and in post-graduate training through moderating the Postgraduate Dysphagia Course at University College London until 2014. Marian has taught widely on the subject of therapy for children with Cerebral Palsy and her work is included in a number of text books on the subject.

Personal profile:

Marian and her husband are involved in running a youth group at their local Church and Marian is trustee of the Kepplewray Centre in the Lake District where she also helps to run an annual Youth Venture holiday. Marian's hobbies include spending time with her 3 sons - trying to keep up with them in sailing boats or on the tennis court, and then recovering with some relaxing gardening, sewing, or musical pursuits.
