Spire Harpenden Hospital were honoured to be able to sponsor The Midnight Walk in Hemel Hempstead on Saturday 29th June 2013, raising money for the extremely worthy cause of The Hospice of St. Francis. The Hospice has been running The Midnight Walk event for the last 7 years, with each year growing in numbers and funds raised. Spire Harpenden are proud to say they have sponsored this event for each of those 7 years.
Our Business Development Executive, Sarah Chittenden, went along this year to experience the atmosphere first-hand. “The first thing that hits you when arrive is the sea of pink.” She said. “Whether that’s in T-shirts, cowboy hats, face paints or tutus. Then you look a bit closer and see the men, or ‘dames’ scattered in between, all of them dressed as women including their own handbags and wigs.”
Daniel Fox from Heart FM and the Hearts Angels were also present helping to paint faces and keep the crowds suitably pumped and ready for the walk. Sarah had a chat with Daniel before the walk started; helping him put his baby pink feather bower back in place.
After a warm up with one of the personal trainers from Sportspace the walkers are lead down to the ‘holding pens’ where Sarah was lucky enough to start the them on their way, seeing right into the distance a sea of flashing bunny-ears was truly an inspiring sight. “My friend and I are looking forward to taking part next year.” Says Sarah
