Mr James Alvey is a consultant podiatric surgeon at Spire Gatwick Park private hospital in Horley, Surrey offering private appointments to patients in Surrey and Sussex in our clean and comfortable private hospital.
He is a specialist in the non-surgical and surgical management of feet. His regular practice includes common forefoot conditions such as bunions, arthritic foot joints, hammer toes, neuromas and ingrown toe nails. He also prescribes foot orthoses and utilises therapeutic steroid and local anaesthetic injections.
Mr Alvey initially qualified in Podiatry in 1993 from the University of Brighton and went on to begin his surgical studies in 2001. His surgical training was gained at Lambeth Teaching NHS Primary Care Trust and also with the Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Consultants at Western Sussex NHS Hospital Trust. He gained his Surgical Fellowship in 2008.
His current NHS post is within Sussex Community NHS Trust and covers West Sussex and Brighton. He is the lead consultant for the Podiatric Surgery Department there.
Mr Alvey is a visiting senior lecturer to the University of Brighton Podiatry Division and is an accredited clinical educator. His research interests include Patient Reported Outcome Measures. He completed his own MSc in 2009 on this subject and has published research on this and several other subjects.
