Sometimes the challenges of life can result in us becoming cut off from our own strengths and positive attributes. My focus is on being practical and supporting individuals to rediscover and develop their resources and resilience within a nurturing and collaborative relationship. The aim is to empower people to take charge of their internal and external lives. The therapy is a safe space where we can work together on exploring alternative more helpful ways of thinking and reacting. This in turn allows the development of tailor made coping strategies and a chance to learn skills that are effective in the long run to promote healthy and satisfying living.
As an integrative practitioner my approach draws on cognitive behavioural, mindfulness, psychodynamic and solution focused therapies depending on the specific needs of the client. Being Chartered with the BPS and Registered with HPC, I adhere to the relevant guidelines and codes of practice and my work is informed by pertinent research, NICE guidance and Department of Health policy guidelines. I have worked within Private Hospital settings, the NHS and more recently as a clinical manager and assessing psychologist for a large Employee Assistance Programme. Throughout, I have always maintained a private practice. I am trained in assessment, brief therapy work, individual, couple’s and family therapy.
