Dr Makadsi qualified in medicine from Mosul University Medical School in 1987 with MB ChB degree. He did his general medical training at Royal Liverpool University Hospital where he obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom in February 1998. He then joined the North Western Deanery in Manchester as a specialist registrar in medicine and rheumatology.During his training he was a honorary teacher at the Medical School of Manchester University. He obtained MSc in clinical rheumatology from Manchester University in 2003. His research was on multi-drug resistance in rheumatoid arthritis and he also has several publications on osteoporosis.On 1st September 2003 Dr Makadsi joined the medical team at East Surrey Hospital as a consultant physician and rheumatologist. He has weekly rheumatology clinics at East Surrey, Crawley and Queen Victoria hospitals. He has interest in all rheumatological diseases with special interest in rheumatoid/inflammatory arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and soft tissue rheumatism.
