“Dear Spire, I hope you can help. My mother has just died of breast cancer and I have heard that there is a genetic test like the one Angelina Jolie had. How can I get this done, is it available at your hospital as I am local to you”?
Spire Pathology at Gatwick Park are able to provide BRCA 1 & 2 tests. You will need to make an initial consultation appointment to see one of the breast specialists at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital who will advise if this test is relevant in your case. There are other tests as well as BRCA 1 & 2 that can be tested for via the consultant.
If you would like other tests done at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital then you would need to acquire a GP referral letter from your doctor requesting that you wish to come to Spire Gatwick Park Hospital for your requested blood test. Then all you need to do is, bring the letter to Spire Gatwick Park Hospital and report to our Reception desk.
You would then be asked to wait for our pathology nurse to become available, to take the requested blood samples. No appointment is required; you just come in and wait for the pathology nurse to become available. This service is available Mon-Fri, 09.00-16.30. Once our in-house pathology lab has completed the requested test copies of the results are then sent on to your GP. I hope this helps.
