I am enquiring as to what fertility treatment is available as I am 41 years old and currently having trouble conceiving. My husband and I have always been ready to start a family. We are now looking for guidance and help. K, Furnace Green.
Dear K, we can certainly help you here at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital by offering you an initial consultation with one of our fertility specialists.
There are three main types of fertility treatment:
• medicines to assist fertility
• surgical procedures
• assisted conception
Please be advised that our cut off for female assisted treatment (IVF / ICSI and IUI only) using your own eggs is before your 45th Birthday and your body mass index (BMI) needs to be 35 or under.
The treatment that you are offered will depend on what is causing your fertility problems. Our specialist will recommend which option is best for you during your consultation, based upon your previous fertility history and fertility test results. We have two fertility specialists available here, and you can choose who you would like to see:
• Mr Ehab Kelada
• Dr W Youssef
The fee for this initial consultation ranges from £150 - £210 or £190 - £410 including a scan; depending on the consultant. This appointment does not require a GP referral and can usually be booked within 2 weeks. Appointments are held here on a Monday or Thursday evenings.
We do request that to this initial consultation you do bring along any results from previous scans, blood tests/hormone tests, investigations and sperms tests that have already been carried out. These may include test that are detailed on the list below, which are useful to have done before an initial consultation is booked, and may be offered by your GP, if not already carried out:
• Day 3 of cycle - FSH, LH and Oestrodial
• Chlamydia Swabs
• Rubella Immunity check
If your GP does not offer these tests, then they can be arranged for you here during your initial consultation. Each test will be individually priced and prices range from £43 - £130, per test.
I hope this helps.
