Meet your weight loss surgery team

Research has shown that weight loss surgery is more effective in the long term than weight loss drugs or diets. Your weight loss surgery will be undertaken by an experienced bariatric (weight loss) surgeon in our safe, clean private hospital. Surgery is only part of the solution, and we also have a dedicated weight loss surgery support team including bariatric (weight loss) specialist nurses, psychologists and dieticians. Once you have met the team, your own personal weight loss programme will be created.

The highly skilled and experienced weight loss team are dedicated to helping and supporting you throughout your treatment. Each member of the team has undertaken specific training related to bariatric surgery, and the care and support required post operatively.

Bariatric Nurse Specialist


Bariatric Nurse Specialist, Kay Wheeler has worked at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital for 18 years.  She joined the bariatric service in the summer of 2008 and has been integral in the development of the service.

You will meet Kay when you first come to the hospital, either for an information evening or at your first consultation with one of our surgeons. Alternatively you may decide to arrange a free mini consultation with Kay to find out if bariatric surgery is right for you, prior to committing to an appointment with a consultant surgeon. Thereafter, if you decide to go ahead with the surgery, Kay will be involved in your care throughout consultation, pre-assessment, treatment and aftercare.

Kay is passionate about gastric banding and believes this is shown in her relationship with out patients, their satisfaction with our service and the excess weight losses achieved.
