Mr Bendall has published on a variety of topics within foot and ankle surgery and his interests in this field include hallux rigidus, joint replacement of the big toe, ankle arthroscopy, SCARF osteotomy, and complex regional pain syndrome.
Mr Stephen Bendall is a consultant orthopaedic, foot and ankle surgeon at Spire Gatwick Park private hospital in Horley, Surrey offering private appointments to patients in Surrey and Sussex in our clean and comfortable private hospital.
Mr Bendall trained at Charing Cross Hospital qualifying in 1982. His orthopaedic training was as a registrar on the Charing-Cross Hospital training scheme before going onto St George’s Hospital as a Senior Registrar. He went to Baltimore USA as a Fellowship working at the University of Maryland and at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
On his return from the USA he was appointed at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath in 1997 as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon. His area of interest apart from trauma was Foot and Ankle Surgery. Since appointment as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon he have been involved in training and research. He is an examiner at the FRCSOrth examination where he chairs the oral question standard setting group. He is also secretary to the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery Society (BOFAS) Education Committee.
More recently he has teamed up with David Redfern and a French surgeon to develop minimally invasive (MIS) foot surgery. This is an exciting venture and he has been appointed as chair of the BOFAS MIS group to look into and develop this area within the UK.
I enjoy lots of different sports, especially the odd round of golf.
