Paul qualified in Medicine from the University of Birmingham. He completed his basic Surgical training at St Mary's Hospital, St Bartholomew's Hospital, and The Royal Postgraduate Medical School at The Hammersmith Hospital. In 1997 Paul started specialist training in Trauma & Orthopaedics as a Specialist Registrar on the Imperial College Scheme in the North West Thames region. This included periods at Hillingdon Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital, The Royal Berkshire Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, St Mary's Hospital and Kingston Hospital.
Paul was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in July 2003, and was then entered onto the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council. Subsequent to this, Paul spent a period as a Locum Consultant at Charing Cross and Ravenscourt Park Hospitals. He was then appointed as a Substantive Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Trust.
Paul is married, with children. He is an accomplished tennis player and a keen golfer. Paul was in the Men's Tennis 1st Team at the Harbour Club, London and was the Harbour Club Men's Doubles Tennis Champion in 2001, 1998 and 1995, and the Mixed Doubles Tennis Champion in 1998. He was also the British Medical Tennis Association Men's Doubles Champion in 1997. Paul's other interests include skiing, diving, Bordeaux wines and travel.
