I believe that successful surgery starts in the consultation office and that careful assessment of patients is equally as important as the surgery itself. For patients with obesity, sympathetic attention to eating patterns and previous dieting as well as future expectations makes all the difference in personally tailoring surgery. I am an influential member of a group of four surgeons in a modern NHS foundation teaching hospital providing laparoscopic bariatric surgery as well as endocrine and emergency general surgery.

I trained in Cambridge, the USA, and London as a general, laparoscopic and endocrine surgeon. I trained as a consultant to perform laparoscopic gastric band surgery and have inserted over 50 in patients with obesity in line with NICE guidance.

I am married to a nurse and we have two young sons and live in London. We are all interested in horseriding skiing and music. When work allows us away we try to have a summer holiday near the water.
