Mr Adrian Ball is a consultant general surgeon at Spire Gatwick Park private hospital in Horley, Surrey offering private appointments to patients in Surrey and Sussex in our clean and comfortable private hospital.

Mr Ball is an accredited consultant surgeon trained in oncoplastic breast surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and minimally invasive surgery. He graduated from Cambridge and has held appointments as a lecturer in surgery at The London Hospital and The Royal Marsden Hospital (Institute of Cancer Research).

Breast surgery

Mr Ball is a member of the breast faculty at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and teaches there regularly. He also lectures abroad. He has visited the USA and Germany to develop skills in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery and is co-author of a book on breast surgery techniques. He believes that breast surgery should take account of both aesthetic and oncological principles and that a multidisciplinary approach is essential for optimal results. He is part of the Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire (SWISH) Cancer Network.

His breast surgery portfolio includes:

- Oncoplastic breast surgery: pedicled TRAM flaps, LD flaps, tissue expansion, miniflaps, oncoplastic conservative breast surgery, sentinel node biopsy
- Cosmetic breast surgery: breast reduction, breast augmentation

General and endocrine surgery

Mr Ball has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery, which he has practiced since the 1990's. As well as surgery for gallstones, he specializes in minimally invasive hernia repair and uses the extraperitoneal (TEPS) approach recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE).

Mr Ball also has an interest in thyroid and parathyroid surgery (including experience in focussed parathyroidectomy) since he worked on the academic surgical unit at the London Hospital.

- Laparoscopic surgery: cholecystectomy, hernia repair (TEPS) and appendectomy
- Endocrine surgery: thyroidectomy, parathyroid exploration and focussed parathyroidectomy
- Hernia repair: Lichtenstein mesh repair
