Physiotherapy at Spire Fylde Coast Hospital

We provide rapid access to comprehensive and professional assessments and diagnosis.  Our highly qualified medical professionals are able to offer a personally tailored consultation at a time to suit you.

The physiotherapy department is open to everyone, not just insured patients.

We do not require a GP referral, there are no waiting lists and we are able to provide early morning and evening appointments.

Physiotherapy patients at Spire Fylde Coast Hospital can benefit from access to on-site diagnostic facilities including X-ray, CT and MRI scanning and our physiotherapists work alongside the surgeons to assess your injuries and rehabilitation.

Do I need a GP referral?

GP referral is encouraged but not essential. You may simply call the physiotherapy department at Spire Fylde Coast Hospital on 01253 308066 and we will arrange a clinical assessment for you.
Please note that if you are claiming on your insurance, a GP referral is usually required.

What happens at the initial consultation?

At the first visit you will receive a thorough clinical assessment, which will include a physical examination and an individual treatment plan will be agreed. If required, we also have excellent links with our on-site imaging department (X-ray/MRI scanner) and consultants to offer a quality service to get you ‘back on track’.

Will I need any follow-up treatment?

This will depend on the type of injury you have sustained or the type of operation that you have had. Your physiotherapist will advise you of any follow-up treatment, if this is appropriate.

How long will it be until I get back to normal life?

Again, this will depend on the type of injury or operation and the planned length of your treatment programme. The physiotherapist will advise you on when you can return to your normal activities.

Will you send a report to my GP?

Yes, with your consent we will keep your GP informed of any developments associated with your treatment.

How much does treatment cost?

If you don’t have medical cover, you can pay for your treatment. Below are guide prices* for our range of physiotherapy services:

Initial assessments £39 (for average 30 minute session)
* Prices are correct at time of publication and subject to change.

How do I pay for treatment?

To make payment easier and more convenient for you, we offer a flexible range of options. If you are not claiming on your insurance, you can pay by cheque, credit or debit card, or cash.

What if I have private medical insurance?

Physiotherapy is usually covered by private medical insurance. So, if you’re insured, either with BUPA or another major medical insurance company, contact your insurer to ask whether you’re covered for the treatment or tests you need, and please bring your insurance documents, or any pre-authorisation numbers to your first outpatient appointment.
