After graduating with honours in medicine, Mr Rajan spent three years doing a masters degree in surgery. This resulted in the submission of a dissertation entitled "Infrared spectroscopic analysis of calculi in children".
Mr Rajan then travelled to North Africa, where he was able to offer his surgical skills to the local population. This period enriched him both personally and professionally.
During and after obtaining his FRCS degree he did training jobs in Welwyn Garden City and was a member of the East Anglian Higher Surgical Training Scheme. This took him to most East Anglian Hospitals including Addenbrookes, Cambridge. During this time he concentrated in all aspects of general and laparoscopic surgery-with particular emphasis on breast and endocrine surgery. 
Mr Rajan began work as consultant general surgeon / lead breast endocrine surgeon at Blackpool Victoria Hospital in 2002. His clinical expertise involves all areas of general surgery
(eg varicose veins, haemorrhoids, and hernia surgery) and laparoscopic surgery (eg cholecystectomy). Mr Rajan's particular interests are breast cancer surgery and endocrine surgery
(eg thyroid and parathyroids).
He strongly believes in providing continuous care for people rather than treating diseases.

I am happily married to a doctor, and have one son who is a Doctor. My family is very important to me and takes priority over my spare time. I enjoy playing golf and tennis to relax, pottering about in the garden.
