Mr Jonathan Heath

Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon

MB, ChB, FRCS (Gen Surg)

Specialises in

My clinical practice includes all aspects of colorectal surgery, ranging from the treatment of colon and rectal cancer to the treatment of incontinence and disordered defecation. I carry out colonoscopy and gastroscopy examinations. I also have a special interest in the laparoscopic (keyhole) treatment of incisional hernias.

I qualified from the University of Liverpool Medical School in 1990. I undertook the bulk of my postgraduate surgical training in the North West region. I spent a year in Blackpool in 1998, researching the effect of patient information upon surgical outcome. My training in all aspects of colorectal surgery was completed at The Manchester Royal Infirmary and Christie Hospitals. I came to Blackpool at the end of my training scheme in 2001. I was appointed as a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Blackpool Victoria Hospital in 2002.

I am married and have four children. Any time remaining after family and work commitments is taken up tinkering with computers, cars, various gadgets, DIY and reading sci-fi. I would like to spend more time cycling on and off road. I enjoy swimming and occasionally take part in open water events.
