    After qualifying in Italy, Mr Perricone undertook surgical training in England and worked during his junior years at Blackpool. His main interest is in vascular surgery and he trained in prestigious professorial vascular units at Southampton and Manchester. He also spent one year as lecturer in vascular surgery at Pretoria Academic Hospital (South Africa).
    Personal profile:
    Happily married with Deborah, a true "Lancashire lass", he has two children of school age. Mr Perricone, like any other Italian, enjoys food, good wine and opera. He is also an enthusiastic golfer which, despite great efforts, he still plays at a very amatory level!
