I qualified from the University of Sheffield Medical School in 1984.After gaining general medical and gastroenterology experience on Yorkshire rotations I spent three years as a lecturer in medicine/gastroenterology with Professor David Triger obtaining an MD thesis in hepatology based research.Further gastroenterology/hepatology training at senior registrar level was on the Leeds rotation with Professor Axon and Professor Losowsky/Dr O'Grady with extensive experience being obtained in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, general gastroenterology and hepatology, including working on the St James Hospital Liver Transplant Unit.I was appointed Consultant Physician/Gastroenterologist at Blackpool in 1996. My clinical practice involves seeing patients with all types of gastroenterological and hepatobiliary disorders. I provide a comprehensive endoscopy service with diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy, ERCP and colonoscopy. This includes oesophageal and colonic dilatation, banding and sclerotherapy of varices, polypectomy, stenting of oesophageal biliary and colonic strictures, biliary sphincterotomy/stone extraction and argon beam laser therapy.
