I qualified from Manchester University with an Honours degree in Physiology in 1978 and Medicine in 1981. After successfully completing a three year general practice vocational training scheme in the South Manchester area, I entered and completed radiology training at Sheffield University Hospitals. In 1991 I was appointed to the position of consultant radiologist at Blackpool Victoria Hospital NHS Trust. A general radiologist subspecialising in cross sectional imaging, nuclear medicine, vascular imaging and interventional radiology, I have a special interest in magnetic resonance imaging and was instrumental in the introduction of a magnetic resonance imaging service to the people of the Fylde. This was initially via a mobile service based at Fylde Coast Hospital and then by a state of the art static unit at the Victoria Hospital Blackpool. I am Chairman of the North West Radiologists sub committee and a member of MRRA UK (Magnetic Resonance Radiologists Association UK). I am actively involved in the University of Manchester radiologists training scheme and a honorary senior lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire. I have helped organise and lectured on two UK magnetic resonance angiography study days in collaboration with Siemens plc and I am organising a national meeting on Cardiac Imaging.

Married with two children and reside in Lytham. I am a keen fell walker and an active sailor, golfer, tennis player and gardener.
