I am a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust. I have a special interest in the management of recurrent miscarriages, menopause, and medical education. I am the lead clinician for the management of recurrent miscarriages at the trust and am regularly invited to lecture on menopause management.

I currently hold the role of Deputy Training Programme Director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Yorkshire deanery and am a course organiser for MRCOG (Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) examinations.

I graduated from Fatimah Jinnah Medical College, Pakistan in 1986 before moving to the UK to formally complete my obstetrics and gynaecology training in the Yorkshire Deanery. During my training, I undertook a clinical research fellowship at the IVF units of Leeds Teaching Hospitals under the supervision of Professor Adam Balen (Former Chair of The British Fertility Society) and Mr Anthony Rutherford. On completion of my training in 2003, I was appointed a consultant at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust as well as College Tutor for Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG).

In 2007, I moved to the UAE, taking up the role of Consultant at Tawam Hospital Al Ain, one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UAE, dealing with high-risk obstetrics and complex gynaecology. During my time at Tawam Hospital, half of my workload was distributed to the Assisted Conception Unit. This involved infertility investigations and conducting IVF and other infertility treatments. I also provided care for high order multiple pregnancies resulting in me being the first obstetrician to deliver quintuplets in the UAE. I was appointed as Director of Postgraduate Medical Education at Tawam Hospital, taking responsibility for the training of speciality registrars down to medical students and formulating the first structured programme for trainee family physicians within the hospital.

I returned to the UK and was reappointed as Consultant at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust in 2011, undertaking the role of Deputy Training Programme Director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Yorkshire deanery in 2013. As part of this role, I became a course organiser for MRCOG examinations. I also returned to my role as College Tutor from 2011-2017.

I am currently a member of the Equivalence Advisory Committee as well as a member of the MTI panel for the RCOG. I am currently lead clinician for the management of recurrent miscarriages in the trust. I am regularly invited to deliver lectures to local General Practitioners on the topic of menopause management.
