Mr Teifi James graduated in medicine from St Mary’s, Paddington in 1983 and subsequently trained in general medicine, diabetes and endocrinology, obtaining his MRCP examination in 1988. He then went on to specialise in ophthalmology and was senior house officer at Windsor with Mr Jack Kanski for 2 years, prior to gaining his FRCS and FRCOpth in 1991. He was a registrar and subsequently senior registrar in ophthalmology in Leeds and Bradford and was awarded a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research training fellowship in 1993. He spent three years doing laboratory research into the immunology and immunogenetics of uveitis and Behcet’s Disease. He was appointed to a part-time consultant post at St James’s University Hospital specialising in uveitis and inflammatory eye disease in 1996. Subsequently in 1997 he obtained a further consultant post at Royal Halifax Infirmary, again specialising in uveitis and inflammatory eye disease.Presently he runs the Yorkshire Regional Uveitis and Inflammatory Eye disease service at the Royal Halifax Infirmary.Mr James was elected FRCP in May 2001 and has published a book on medical ophthalmology and has several publications on inflammatory eye disease and Behcet’s Disease.
In 2004 Mr James developed The MGDRx EyeBag, a re-usable warm compress. Since then He has developed special expertise in the management of Dry Eye Syndromes and Blepharitis. He runs specialist Dry Eye Clinics for private patients at the Spire Hospital Elland West Yorkshire.
Mr James gives frequent Dry Eye lectures and workshops both internationally and throughout the British Isles. He is much sought after as a speaker on these matters.
