Background Information
Professional profile:

I was born and bought up and educated in the Midlands. I qualified as a doctor at Birmingham University. I then undertook basic medical training in Birmingham and Edinburgh.  Subsequently I specialised in Diabetes and Endocrinology training at University Hospitals North Staffordshire NHS Trust, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (Selly Oak and Queen Elizabeth) and University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (part of the West Midlands specialist training programme).

My specialist area is in Diabetes and Endocrinology. This includes the evaluation of hypothalamic, pituitary, adrenal, thyroid , gonadal ( including Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and its complications), Hirsuitism, obesity, tiredness and vitamin D.

I have a holistic approach to medical practice, understanding that subtle changes in one hormone can have a knock on effect on all hormones, producing a significant impact on well being.  I undertake a detailed investigation of hormonal abnormalities, looking for direct and knock on effects at all levels in main hormone systems (for e.g. TSH, Cortisol, Testosterone) and their sub fractions (for e.g. FT4, FT3, DHEAS, Androstenedione). Whilst I usually treat with conventional therapies, I understand that these do not always work for everyone, and am happy to use alternatives (for e.g. T3 in thyroid disease) or less conventional treatments (such as Armour in thyroid disease) if required.

Personal profile:

My interests include keeping fit at the level of body and mind, photography, martial arts and meditation.
