Spire Elland Hospital is one of only a few private hospitals offering keyhole surgery for major gynaecological procedures such as hysterectomy and radical excision of endometriosis.
Consultant surgeon Mr Ashwini Trehan played a major role in pioneering the development of keyhole gynaecological surgery for benign conditions, with keyhole surgical experience spanning more than 15 years. He has special interests in endometriosis and minimal access (keyhole) surgery, and is on the specialist board for treatment of endometriosis in the UK in the region.
Overnight hospital stay service following major benign gynaecological surgery
At Spire Elland Hospital Mr Trehan runs the UK's only overnight hospital stay service for major benign gynaecological surgery, where patients are fit to leave hospital after only one night. This contrasts with the conventional practice of 4-7 nights’ stay after a hysterectomy, for example. Mr. Trehan’s overnight service is also possible for complex endometriosis surgery lasting anything between 4 to 8 hours.
Spire Elland Hospital has been recognised as an Endometriosis Centre for the management of advanced endometriosis by BSGE (British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy).
