Following my initial training in the Army, with service in Northern Ireland, the Falklands and the Gulf, I was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Edinburgh. I developed my interest in foot and ankle surgery with training in Europe and Britain and became lead consultant in foot and ankle surgery for Lothian. I also became responsible for the amputation and prosthetic service in South East Scotland. I retained my connection with the Army as Honorary Consultant in Scotland.
I continue to remain updated by attending courses and meetings at the European and British foot and ankle societies.
Having travelled widely with the Army I am content to have settled back in Scotland where I maintain my interest in bagpipe music.
