Omar’s main NHS clinical interests are head and neck surgery and reconstruction, advanced skin cancer, perineal and gynaecological reconstruction and lower limb reconstruction.

He is interested in all aspects of cosmetic plastic surgery and in particular he has an interest in body contouring and breast surgery including breast augmentation, reduction and male gynaecomastia surgery. His head and neck background helps to compliment his interest in facial aesthetic surgery where his main interests are rhinoplasty, facelift and eyelid surgery.

Does not see children in his private practice.

Research interests:

Omar has published a number of peer reviewed articles. He has an active interest in clinically based research and his most recent projects have focused on outcomes in aesthetic surgery.

Professional profile:

Omar was educated at Fettes College, Edinburgh. He completed his medical degree at Cambridge University and also obtained a BA honours degree in Medical Ethics, Psychology and the History of Medicine.

He commenced his plastic surgery training in 2003. His specialist training was carried out in Aberdeen and Glasgow. In 2011 he spent a year on fellowship in Australia at the world renowned Royal Adelaide Hospital. He gained extensive experience in microsurgery and reconstruction of complex facial/ head and neck conditions as well as general plastic surgery and aesthetic surgery.

He completed a cosmetic surgery fellowship in Edinburgh with his father and has worked closely with him ever since, gaining invaluable experience on the finer points of cosmetic plastic surgery. He has interests in all aspects of cosmetic surgery including those that he routinely carries out in his NHS practice such as breast augmentation, breast reduction, body contouring and facial plastic surgery.

He is passionate about training and teaches on a number of courses. He is involved in the setting of the written plastic surgery exam for trainees nearing the end of their training. He is a reviewer for the Journal of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and many of his own publications have been widely cited.

Personal profile:

Omar’s time outside of work is spent with his family and three children. He enjoys watching his boys play rugby and spending time gardening with his daughter (the boys refuse to help). He is interested in photography, technology, football and current affairs.
