Background Information 
Professional profile:
Since 1997, I have accepted patients referred to me at Spire Murrayfield Hospital, Edinburgh with orthopaedic problems, primarily those affecting the spine, foot and ankle. This reflects my clinical practice at The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Previously, I was Spinal Fellow at the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney and Visiting Scholar to the University of Sydney, NSW, Australia.

Recent research has included publication of International Cochrane Literature Reviews of surgery, development of a patented cervical disc arthroplasty and a device for the correction of idiopathic scoliosis.

I have specialist expertise in endoscopic spine surgery and kyphoplasty. The system I use for endoscopic procedures is Joimax, the leading developer and provider of complete systems for minimally invasive spine surgery. Recent publications are available on www.gibsonspine.eu.
In addition, I have also maintained an interest in surgery of the foot and ankle. I currently collaborate with several commercial companies in the UK, US and Germany.

I am President of Thistle Lawn Tennis Club and I am also a member of Mortonhall Golf Club and David Lloyd Club, Edinburgh and Arran Yatch Club.
