Professional profile:
I graduated from Edinburgh Medical School and did my surgical training in Edinburgh, London, Southampton and Toronto.
I worked for two years as a research fellow at Edinburgh University and obtained my doctorate in 1990 with a research thesis entitled: Studies on a New Method of Peripheral Nerve Repair and Regeneration.
I have worked as a consultant neurosurgeon in Edinburgh from 1999.
I have a broad neurosurgical practice with subspecialty interests in paediatric neurosurgery, spinal neurosurgery and peripheral nerve surgery. Within my practice I have become expert in the management of tumours, hydrocephalus and congenital abnormalities of the brain and spine as well as the more common conditions such as disc prolapse, degenerative spinal conditions and peripheral nerve compression syndromes.
Personal profile:
I am one of three female neurosurgeons working in Scotland. I am married and live and work in Edinburgh.
