Special clinical interests:

Dr Mowbray is able to review and manage all aspects of dermatology including lesions, acne, psoriasis, eczema, hair and nail disorders. Dr Mowbray is trained in both adult and paediatric dermatology. Dr Mowbray performs a weekly skin surgery clinic.

Dr Mowbray has a specialist interest in the diagnosis and management of skin cancer. Dr Mowbray is passionate about patient support and has successfully set up the skin cancer link nurse service in NHS Fife, this service is currently being developed using a Macmillan project grant.

Dr Mowbray has a special interest in hair and nails. 

Dr Mowbray is interested in education, specific areas include education of primary care physicians in the recognition and management of benign and malignant skin lesions.

Professional profile:

Dr Mowbray trained in medicine at the University of Edinburgh and dermatology in Edinburgh. Before taking up her consultant post she spent 3 years studying for her MD degree on ‘Nitric Oxide  as a regulator of apoptosis and inflammation in human skin following ultraviolet irradiation’. Dr Mowbray works as a dermatology consultant in NHS Fife.

Dr Mowbray is the skin cancer lead for NHS Fife and acts as the South East Scotland managed clinical network (SCAN) skin cancer chair.  

Dr Mowbray is a member of the British Hair and Nails Society and acts as medical advisor for Alopecia Help and Advice Scotland.

Dr Mowbray is a member of the MRCP dermatology speciality question writing group. The remit of this group is to write exam questions for the membership of the royal college of physicians (MRCP) written exam.

Personal profile:

Megan lives in South Edinburgh with her 2 young daughters. Megan is passionate about sport, her main interests include mountain running, triathlon, open water swimming, downhill skiing and ski mountaineering.

Dr Mowbray enjoys exploring new restaurants in Edinburgh, socialising with friends and family and generally being outdoors in Scotland and around the world.
