Dr Tatham is up to date with the latest research and has over 50 publications in major journals including Ophthalmology and the British and American Journals of Ophthalmology. Specialist interests include Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) imaging to detect glaucoma at the earliest stages and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Dr Tatham’s glaucoma research has won best paper awards from the UK and Eire Glaucoma Society and The Scottish Ophthalmological Club. He has been invited to lecture at international meetings including the World Glaucoma Congress, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), European Glaucoma Society (EGS) and the Chinese Ophthalmological Society, and is an examiner for the European Board of Ophthalmologists.

Dr Tatham is consultant cataract and glaucoma surgeon at Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion,Edinburgh and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Ophthalmology at University of Edinburgh. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh,and the European Board of Ophthalmologists, achieving the highest score in Europe in his board exam. Dr Tatham’s clinical expertise is in glaucoma and cataract surgery. Following specialist training in London and the USA he is experienced in new "safe-surgery" glaucoma surgery techniques.These techniques can be used to minimise the risks of surgery and achieve the best outcomes.
Dr Tatham lives in Edinburgh. In his spare time he enjoys playing tennis, exploring the beaches of East Lothian and making the most of his Scottish Heritage membership.
