Cartilage damage of the hip

Sometimes small isolated patches of the joint surface (articular cartilage – the part that bears the load in the joint) can be damaged causing pain on weight bearing, especially after activities. If small, these patches can sometimes be repaired but often the area of damage increases leading to full blown osteoarthritis.
