Gynaecological cancers include tumours of the vulva, vagina, cervix (neck of womb), endometrium (lining of womb), fallopian tubes and ovaries. Symptoms vary depending on the site of the tumour.

Dr Cameron Martin leads the gynaecological cancer team at the Spire Murrayfield Hospital, which received Bupa-accreditation as a cancer centre in 2009. This requires that all treatments offered are compliant with strict quality improvement standards. Spire Murrayfield Hospital has on-site access to the latest diagnostic tests including MRI and CT scanning, specialist pathology services, nurse support and links to our local NHS cancer network to ensure multi-speciality review of all patients treatments.
Dr Martin is a subspecialist consultant in gynaecological oncology. He is accredited by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London and only one of 12 consultants in Scotland performing extensive cancer surgery. He is a member of the South East Scotland Cancer Network and helps to develop cancer care guidelines. Dr Martin is a reviewer for the European Journal of Cancer and has been invited to give evidence to the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence in England.
