Rapid Access Chest Pain Service

Chest pain and heart problems can affect anyone at almost any age. So if you’re experiencing chest pain, have had heart problems in your family, or are just thinking about the health of your heart, then we can help.

Spire Shawfair Park Hospital has a Rapid Access Chest Pain Service led by consultant cardiologists. A range of tests and treatments to support the diagnosis of your consultant are available and our experienced staff will ensure that your visit to us is as convenient and comfortable as possible.

The service includes

  • consultant-led care
  • full range of diagnostic tests
  • private consultation rooms and appointments within 48 hours*
  • treatment for all, insured or not
  • advice regarding required diagnostic options

Diagnostic options included in the package

Electrocardiogram (ECG), exercise ECG testing, echocardiograms and assessment of coronary anatomy.  Additional tests** out with the package price that may be required include 24 hour ECG or blood pressure monitoring. If further treatment is required this will be discussed with the consultant.   During your stay, your consultant will provide advice and support at every stage and will explain what tests will be performed and how long they will take so you know what to expect.

We understand how important it is to report your results quickly and efficiently. If you have been referred to the Rapid Access Chest Pain Service by your GP, a consultant cardiologist will analyse your test results and send them to your GP within 48 hours of your appointment. If you’ve been referred to the Rapid Access Chest Pain Service by a consultant, they will discuss your results at your next appointment.

How can I arrange tests or treatment for my heart?

If you have experienced chest pain or are concerned about your heart, you will need to see your GP and asked to be referred to Spire Shawfair Park Hospital.  Please note that this is not an emergency service.
