Neurometrix Advance Nerve Conduction available at Spire Dunedin

October 2010

Spire Dunedin Hospital is delighted to offer a new nerve conduction study to diagnose Carpal Tunnel syndrome and other nerve entrapments in the upper limb.

Using the Neurometrix Advance Nerve Conduction machine we are able to get results within minutes of the test taking place.

The test is simple and pain free, with a sensor being attached to the hand which sends waves through. The readings of these waves are then compared to a database of healthy patients of the same height, weight, age and sex.

Within five minutes of finishing the test, the consultant will be sent the results by email.

Carpal tunnel syndrome can be caused when the median nerve in your wrist becomes trapped and causes a tingling sensation in hand. Occasionally, the patient may experience complete numbness and lose strength in the hand.

To check your suitability for the test, please call us to make an appointment on 0118 958 7676.
